Back by popular demand, Holy Island mussels are a unique local product with a fantastic flavour.
In an exclusive agreement between Il Forno and Steve Oldale (the only person licensed to harvest wild mussels between the Wash and Aberdeen), the mussels are picked at 9am and delivered to Il Forno by 12noon - and are as fresh as you can get. A feature in The Journal in February this year had customers flocking to Il Forno to try this unique local product, cooked to perfection by our talented chefs.
So, if you love mussels and wish to support locally sourced produce book a table while the season lasts (mussel season runs from September to April).
